I am Ethem Baymak, a painter from Prizren, Kosovo. Although the artists do not have their nest, because they belong to the whole world, there is very sentimental connection between Prizren and me, because Prizren is really nice city, which inspire the artists. That's how my artistic adventure started. Prizren old streets and architecture were my first inspiration, especially one form the Ottoman period...Why the architecture is still my motif ? In this modern time, intentionally or not, those old architectural objects disappear. In the latest war in ex Yugoslavia, unfortunately, we saw on TV screen how beautiful Mostar bridge was destroyed...I want to preserve that cultural heritage, so hundreds of years later one can recognize that there were beautiful buildings and streets lost in modern times.

People say I am versatile artist and I am. I play Turiskih instrument ud, I write poetry (more than 20 books published), and I have 75 individual and more that 100 collective exhibitions. My paintings are spread over the world. 

Now, as an aged person, I have my moral obligation to support young talents, young and prosperous artists, so they become far better than me. My son graduated architecture and now he has its academic career, but I also support him in his artistic career.

I think that nobody answered what is art, so I can't define the art, but i think that art is about loving man, the beauty of his creation... The only consolation is tomorrow. it gives us chance to love and respect each other.  (traduction Sasa Popovic)
